Rumi’s Lessons In Love: A Vinyasa (2.5 hours). BOOK EARLY TO AVOID MISSING OUT!
Many people have heard of the great Persian mystic poet, Rumi, but few know the story behind his poems. In this workshop you’ll learn all about Rumi’s relationship with his beloved friend Shams of Tabriz, and how that relationship broke him and liberated him at the same time. Poetry woven into asana will give us insight into both his heart and our own hearts, because Rumi’s story is our story. It’s a tale of love, loss, emptiness and what fills that emptiness. We will dance on our mats like the whirling dervishes of ancient Persia, encountering some arm balances and backbends along the way, and landing in the sweetest savasana. All levels.
Kelly’s classes are musical, poetic, and deeply spiritual. She is known for her storytelling and her ability to make the philosophy of yoga relatable, to bring big subjects into an every day perspective. Expect a challenging and creative flow, plenty of great music, a dose of philosophy, a bit of chanting, and definitely some laughter! She is honored to study with and be influenced by many great teachers including Dana Flynn, Raghunath Cappo, Joshua Greene, Cyndi Lee and Douglas Brooks. She is also endlessly exhilarated by poetry, clouds, the Bhagavad Gita and the deep wisdom of her 8 year old guru Milo.
It is often said that our yoga practice doesn’t really begin until life gets hard, and kelly has experienced that first hand. Her goal is to help people see that our greatest struggles can actually be our greatest strengths. She combines the power of movement, music, and myth to help others move through life transitions with grace and ease.
